Explains process and evidence for workplace-based recognition.
This policy outlines the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process offered through Finweb Business Consultancy. RPL provides learners with an opportunity to gain credit and recognition for skills and knowledge acquired through formal, informal, or workplace learning.

1. Purpose
- To provide learners with fair access to qualifications by recognising prior learning and workplace experience.
- To ensure compliance with QCTO, INSETA, MICT SETA, and other quality assurance requirements.
- To maintain the integrity, credibility, and transparency of the assessment process.

2. Scope
This policy applies to:
- Learners applying for occupational qualifications via the RPL route.
- Assessors and moderators registered with the relevant SETA/QCTO.
- All RPL assessments and verification processes conducted through Finweb Learner Portal.

3. Eligibility Criteria
Learners may apply for RPL if they:
- Have a minimum of 5 yearsâ relevant workplace experience in the occupational field.
- Can demonstrate knowledge, skills, and applied competence aligned to the qualificationâs outcomes.
- Provide sufficient evidence to meet the qualificationâs exit level outcomes and assessment criteria.

4. RPL Process
- Application & Screening
- Learner submits an Expression of Interest and provides supporting information (CV, qualifications, work history).
- Finweb reviews eligibility against programme requirements.
- Incomplete Expression of Interest or late submissions will NOT be considered

- RPL Orientation
- Learners attend an orientation session explaining the RPL process, requirements, timelines, and evidence standards.

- Portfolio of Evidence (PoE) Development
§ Learners compile a PoE with authentic workplace evidence (reports, letters, work outputs, supervisor attestations).
- Templates and guidance are provided by Finweb.

- Assessment
§ Registered assessors evaluate the PoE against the qualificationâs exit level outcomes and assessment criteria.
§ Feedback is provided, and additional evidence may be requested if required.

- Moderation
§ Internal moderation ensures fairness and consistency across assessments.
§ External verification by SETA/QCTO moderators confirms compliance.

- EISA (External Integrated Summative Assessment)
§ Learners who meet the requirements are registered for the EISA conducted by the QCTO.

5. Evidence Requirements
Evidence submitted for RPL must be:
- Authentic â the learnerâs own work.
- Valid â directly linked to the qualification outcomes.
- Current â reflects recent and relevant workplace practice.
- Sufficient â covers all the required outcomes and criteria.

Examples include:
- Workplace reports and projects
- Supervisor/manager attestations
- Certificates of training (formal/informal)
- Job descriptions and performance reviews
- Work samples or outputs

6. Appeals & Disputes
- Learners may appeal assessment decisions using the Appeals & Grievances Procedure.
- Appeals must be submitted in writing within the set timeframe.
- Moderators and quality assurance staff will review appeals fairly and transparently.

7. Roles & Responsibilities
- Learners: Provide complete and authentic evidence, meet deadlines, and engage with the process.
- Assessors: Conduct fair and valid assessments, provide feedback, and guide PoE evaluation.
- Moderators: Ensure consistency, verify results, and oversee appeals.
- Finweb Quality Assurance: Monitor compliance and maintain records for QCTO/SETA verification.

8. Record Keeping
- All RPL applications, PoEs, assessment decisions, and moderation reports will be stored securely for a minimum of 5 years in compliance with QCTO requirements.

9. Support & Guidance
Learners are supported through:
- RPL orientation sessions
- Templates and checklists for PoE development
- Access to RPL Advisor and support staff for guidance
